Frequently Asked Questions
• Do I have to register online for this ride?
Yes you should. With dozens of legs of this ride nationwide and over 7,000 participants, registering online really helps our volunteer teams plan for safety, merchandise and catering.
Plus, if you register online by midnight 6th March AEDT, riders will be automatically entered into the Online Registration Incentive Prize Draw of an Indian Scout valued at $19,995. The draw will take place on 19th March 2017.
• How do I register online?
• Where do I get a ride patch?
If you have registered online, when you check in on the ride day you will be issued with a 1 Dayer 2017 patch and round sticker.
If you haven't registered online, you may only receive a ride patch and decal if there are enough to spare on the day. Registering early and online helps Black Dog Ride send enough stock to each region for all riders.
• Can I register on the day halfway through the ride?
No you cannot. The logistics around planning your local 1 Dayer are incredible and volunteers have spent months of their own time organising a great day out for a great cause. Respect both their time and the cause by checking in by the prescribed time and location. If you join the ride after check in closes and you haven't registered, you will be asked to leave.
• Does ride registration include meals and drinks?
No, unless otherwise indicated, payment of all refreshments on the day are the responsibility of the rider.
• I have a scooter, can I join the ride?
All vehicles joining the ride must be able to safely maintain highway speeds, be registered and insured. We ask that smaller machines and P platers stay at the rear of the group at all times for the safety of all road users.
• I'm on my L Plates. Can I still join the ride?
Learner Riders, providing they can safely maintain highway speeds as above, are welcome on Black Dog Ride 1 Dayers. They must remain at the rear of the group under the supervision of an experience licensed rider at all times whilst on the road with Black Dog Ride to ensure the safety of all road users.
• What do I do if I need a refund or transfer to another ride location?
Please contact us - e: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will assist you.
• Why do I need to fill out certain info when registering for the ride?
BDR needs this information to ensure we can fulfil our duty of care for over 7,000 riders nationwide should an accident, illness or medical emergency arise whilst on the ride.
Please do not use your pillion or visa versa as your next of kin contact. Use the details of a trusted person whom we can contact should you require medical or emergency assistance on the ride.
We need your DOB, NOK Info and Bike Info soley for accidents and emergencies on the ride.
Black Dog Ride complies with the Privacy Act 1988 and your information is never shared or sold with any outside entities.
• Will Winston be available for purchase on the day?
Due to prohibitive freight costs, merchandise at each leg of the 1 Dayer 2017 may be limited. You can purchase all your Black Dog Ride gear in our Online Shop here. We love to see black dogs on bikes, especially our mascot Winston, so bring him along on ride day. Make sure you tie him down well as he likes to get airborne!
