Inaugural Black Dog Ride Around Australia 2009

After considerable research Steve decided the best bike for him to undertake the task of riding the 15,000 kilometres around Australia was a BMW K1200GT SE. A second hand low kilometre 2007 bike, silver in colour, was sourced and following a few long rides Steve felt his selection had been vindicated. The bike proved very comfortable, handled beautifully, with good reserves of power and excellent fuel economy (around 450 kms per tank).

Another aspect of the bike which Steve still loves is the way the bike transforms from tourer to sports for those quicker day rides simply by removing the panniers and switching the ESA suspension to Sport.
